In 2364 and 2365, Wright functioned as a sciences division nurse under Doctors Beverly Crusher and Katherine Pulaski.
Wright left the Enterprise-D among other crewmembers when the evacuation to Starbase 74 began and later returned to the Enterprise-D after Captain Picard and Commander Riker saved the ship and uncovered the plan of the Bynars. (TNG: "11001001")
He was on duty on the bridge when the Enterprise-D discovered the "microbrain" lifeform on Velara III. (TNG: "Home Soil")
He passed the Klingons Konmel and Korris along with Worf in a corridor aboard the Enterprise-D. (TNG: "Heart of Glory")
Wright served on an aft station of the bridge when Geordi La Forge gave the command to separate the saucer section to Lieutenant Logan. (TNG: "The Arsenal of Freedom")
He was working in sickbay when Doctor Crusher treated the addicted Ornarans T'Jon and Romas. (TNG: "Symbiosis")
Wright was on duty in sickbay when the Enterprise-D crew tried to rescue Doctor Paul Manheim. He later informed Doctor Crusher when Manheim became conscious. (TNG: "We'll Always Have Paris")
In 2364, Wright assisted Crusher in reviving three Humans that were discovered cryonically preserved aboard the cryonics satellite in the Kazis system. (TNG: "The Neutral Zone")
In 2365, the Enterprise began experiencing problems with its subsystems as result of an Iconian program that had affected the ship. Wright got chewed out by Dr. Pulaski who was complaining that the biobeds were not working, the ship was falling apart, she had 35 emergency calls scattered across 12 decks and her trauma teams were being run ragged trying to respond. As she stormed away, Wright walked off in another direction shaking his head. (TNG: "Contagion")
Wright assisted Dr. Pulaski again when a medical team was ordered to the shuttlebay and discovered an unconscious double of Captain Jean-Luc Picard on board the shuttle El-Baz. (TNG: "Time Squared")
In 2366, Wright was transferred to the command division and promoted to an ensign where he manned the conn when the nanites took control of the Enterprise-D. He was present when the bridge was flooded with nitrogen oxide. Later his console exploded but Wright was not harmed. (TNG: "Evolution")
