See W. Bligh for the starship captain of the same name.

William Bligh was a Human captain of the Royal Navy who commanded a small sloop-of-war, called the HMAV Bounty in the late 18th century. Captain Bligh became known in Earth history after his crew mutinied. Since then, it has been common to compare Captain Bligh with any captain whose crew is on the verge of a mutiny.

Bligh's command was later the namesake for a Klingon Bird-of-Prey, which was named the HMS Bounty by Leonard McCoy in a "fine sense of historic irony." (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)

Tom Paris once compared Annorax to Captain Bligh after learning that his Krenim crew was about to mutiny after two hundred years attempting to alter history on board the Krenim weapon ship. (VOY: "Year of Hell, Part II")
