Volnoth was an elderly Acamarian Gatherer and a member of the Lornak clan.
During negotiations on Gamma Hromi II in 2366, Volnoth suddenly and unexpectedly died. A later investigation by the crew of the USS Enterprise-D revealed that he was killed by Yuta, a member of the clan Tralesta, in vengeance for the Lornak's massacre in 2286. Yuta was able to secretly murder him by touch, transmitting a virus that was lethal to anyone carrying Lornak DNA. (TNG: "The Vengeance Factor")
Volnoth was played by Marc Lawrence.
In the ending credits, the character's name is misspelled "Volnath."
