The Vedek Assembly is the governing body of the Bajoran religion and holds great political influence as well. The Assembly is lead by the Kai (the leading religious figure on Bajor).
In late 2375, Winn Adami cancelled an appearance before the Assembly. What was unknown at the time was that she had turned away from the Prophets and had embraced the Pah-wraith. (DS9: "The Changing Face of Evil")
