Vanessa Greene (15 September 195413 December 2017; age 63) wrote, with Alan J. Adler and Hilary J. Bader, the teleplay for the Star Trek: The Next Generation fourth season episode "The Loss". In April 1993 she and Adler were interviewed by Craig W. Chrissinger for The Official Star Trek: The Next Generation Magazine issue 22 in the article "Alan J. Adler & Vanessa Greene: Victors of 'The Loss'".

Born as Vanessa Andrea Linsell in London, England, United Kingdom, Greene started her career as television producer in the 1980s. Hired by CBS she worked as producer, supervising producer, or executive producer on projects such as the drama Rape and Marriage: The Rideout Case (1980, with Eugene Roche and Gail Strickland), the drama Hobson's Choice (1981, with Bert Remsen), Under the Influence (1986), Secret Witness (1988, with Paddi Edwards), Deadly Desire (1991), With Hostile Intent (1993), Nothing Lasts Forever (1995, starring Vanessa Williams), Stolen Women, Captured Hearts (1997), the thriller Before He Wakes (1998, with Timothy Carhart, Barbara J. Tarbuck, and Ron Canada), and the drama Monday After the Miracle (1998, with Christina Pickles and William O. Campbell).

She died in Rancho Mirage, California, after a thirteen-year battle with breast cancer. [1]
