I've been a fan of the Star Trek universe since watching TOS as a child. When TNG came out I watched it regularly until the final episode, and then I was a fan no longer for quite awhile. When DS9 came out I immediately didn't like the idea of it being Station and not a starship but I tried it anyway -- and didn't like it much. I missed the exploration aspect of the previous series. When Voyager came out, I didn't really give it much of a chance cuz I really didn't like the character of Captain Janeway at all. I don't think I watched even one episode all the way through during it's initial run. When Seven of Nine came onto the cast I developed an interest in the show, for obvious male-oriented reasons, but I still didn't watch it for quite awhile. It wasn't unti the seires had already ended that I started watching reruns in syndication. And I fell in love with it. But my experience was marred by the fact that I was seing it all out of order, so I went out and got the entire series for myself somewhat recently and I started watching it again from the beginning. I have to say Voyager is my favourite of the series, and in fact one of my all-time favourite TV shows. Janeway has grown on me, and I'm a particular fan of The Doctor ,Tom Paris,Harry Kim and Neelix, As well as Seven of Nine (and not just for male reasons anymore.) I'm a fan of TOS only for nostalgic reasons now, I just can't stomach too much of that cheese anymore. Even TNG is a bit too cheesy for my taste anymore, especially the earlier episodes. Hope I'm not offending anyone there. Times change. I still consider Geordi and Data too of my all time favourite characters though, and also Deanna Troi for some more male-related reasons.
Anyway, I've been coming to this site for awhile now, but really haven't contributed anything so far. Im a BIG fan, but I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a trekkie. My dedication simply doesn't run THAT deep. never been to any conventions or anything like that, and if it weren't for Voyager I really wouldn't call myself a HUGE fan. But Voyager sealed the deal for me. I plan on getting TNG for myself and re-watching that all the way through again too. Now that I'm really back into Star Trek I'd like to get the movies as well and rewatch them all. I'm very dissappointed that Enterprise didn't make it for more than 4 seasons. I actually wasn't watching ANY tv at the time it was bing aired, so maybe I'm part of the reason for it not having better ratings though I have no idea how the whole nielsen thing works, but next on my list after the voyager re-watch is to watch Enterprise all the way through. I've only ever seen the frist few episodes so far, but I LOVE the premise, and I love that Scott Bakula is the captain (I'm a huge Quantum Leap fan.)
From most to least favourite I would rate the the various star trek manifestations as follows Voyager, Enterprise, TNG based movies, TNG, TOS based movies, TOS, DS9, TAS (I've never actually seen it)
