Colored blocks Edit

Cubes of food

These colored blocks were occasionally served aboard the USS Enterprise.

Joe Tormolen had a plate of these blocks of food in the ship's recreation room, shortly before he accidentally stabbed himself in 2266. (TOS: "The Naked Time")

Later the same year, Kevin Riley similarly had a plate of colored blocks, in engineering. (TOS: "The Conscience of the King")

In the final revised draft of the script for "The Conscience of the King", sandwiches were instead to have been included in this meal.

Other blocks of colored food were made available to guests at a reception aboard the ship during transit to Babel, shortly prior to the Babel Conference, in 2268. (TOS: "Journey to Babel")

In the stage directions from the second revised final draft of the "Journey to Babel" script (dated 19 September 1967), the food (and beverages) available at the reception were described thus; "A table in the f.g. holds exotic drinks, des hers d'oeuvre fineberg [sic]".

Vulcan dishes Edit

These Vulcan dishes were served for dinner by the Romulan commander to Spock while he was aboard her flagship in 2268. When asked of the dishes meet his approval, Spock said "I'm flattered, Commander. There is no doubt that the cuisine aboard your vessel far surpasses that of the Enterprise. It is indeed a powerful recruiting inducement." (TOS: "The Enterprise Incident")

The stage directions in the final draft script of "The Enterprise Incident" (on a page dated 14 June 1968) simply described the spread by saying, "A sumptuously laden table predominates."
