Ulysses was a novel written by James Joyce, possibly the most famous of Irish writers. The book describes the day of a resident of Dublin and the sights he sees therein. The book was famed for being written in a difficult to understand manner. (ENT: "Shuttlepod One"; TNG: "Captain's Holiday")
In late 2151 Malcolm Reed to a copy of Ulysses with him on a trip with Shuttlepod 1 that he planned to read on the return trip to the Enterprise (NX-01). Commander Trip Tucker remarked that he'd "rather realign every micro-circuit on this shuttle than try to wade through that baby". (ENT: "Shuttlepod One")
In 2366, Captain Jean Luc Picard took hardcover editions of Ulysses and Ethics, Sophistry and the Alternate Universe with him on his vacation to Risa. Commander William T.
