The USS Maryland was a Federation starship in service during the latter half of the 24th century.
The Maryland was one of the starships missing in the Gamma Quadrant sometime before 2373, it was presumed to have been destroyed by the Dominion. (DS9: "In Purgatory's Shadow")
Background
The Star Trek Encyclopedia states that this vessel was a Renaissance-class starship, with a registry of NCC-45109.
The ship was presumably named after the US-state in North America and the World War II battleship of the same name.
