The USS Goddard (NCC-59621) was a Federation Template:ShipClass starship that was in service to Starfleet in the latter half of the 24th century.
In 2366, Goddard was scheduled to rendezvous with the USS Enterprise-D, but the Enterprise was delayed by a diplomatic mission to the planet Acamar. (TNG: "The Vengeance Factor")
In 2367 the Goddard visited Starbase 414 for resupply. (TNG: "Brothers")
In early 2368, the Goddard was part of the task force led by the Enterprise-D that blockaded the Klingon-Romulan border during the Klingon Civil War. The Goddard was positioned at the center of the tachyon detection grid deployed by Picard, and was indirectly linked to the USS Enterprise-D via the USS Hermes and USS Aries. (TNG: "Redemption II")
Background
The class and registry were derived from an okudagram displayed in the observation lounge starting around TNG Season 4. This information appeared on the Starship mission status screen.
The Goddard was probably named for American scientist Robert Goddard, one of the pioneers of modern rocketry.
