The USS Entente (NCC-2120) was a Federation class starship in service in the early 2270s. (Star Trek: The Motion Picture)

Background

The Entente was mentioned in voiceover dialogue during the Epsilon IX station sequence. Both the ship class and registry are listed in Franz Joseph's Star Fleet Technical Manual.

The mention of the Entente in Star Trek: The Motion Picture would normally suggest that this class is indeed the one mentioned in the Technical Manual. Consequently, this would present an apparent discontinuity in the (already flawed) registry system, because is it normally assumed that the USS Excelsior (NX-2000) is a newly built ship as of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. But, many sites and sources have attempted to anwser this oddity, like articles such as this well-researched work by DarkStarG2k.
