The USS Crazy Horse was a 24th century Federation Excelsior-class starship operated by Starfleet.

In late 2369, Vice Admiral Nechayev mobilized a fleet consisting of Crazy Horse and fourteen other ships with the stated aim of defending Federation colonies from an anticipated second Borg invasion. The ships were divided into five task forces with the USS Gorkon as her flagship. Crazy Horse was assigned to task force three under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard. For the duration of the task force's existence, the Crazy Horse served alongside the USS Agamemnon and the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG: "Descent")

A year later, the Crazy Horse transported Admiral Erik Pressman to a rendezvous with the Enterprise. (TNG: "The Pegasus")

The Star Trek Encyclopedia (3rd ed., p. 91) stated this starship was "named for the Ogala Sioux chief, who was one of the most important Native American leaders at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876."

The first edition of the Star Trek Encyclopedia (p. 319) listed the starship as a member of the Cheyenne-class with the registry NCC-50446. After the ship's appearance in "The Pegasus", the later editions of the Star Trek Encyclopedia (3rd ed, p. 471) changed the class, but retained the registry number.
