USS Bradbury (NX-72307) was a Federation Template:ShipClass transport that was in service to Starfleet in the latter half of the 24th century. Bradbury was the prototype for its class of starship.

In 2366, Bradbury ferried Starfleet Academy students to Earth. Ensign Wesley Crusher of the starship USS Enterprise-D was scheduled to be transported by the Bradbury from Betazed to the Academy to begin his classes. Because of an emergency aboard Enterprise-D, the Bradbury was forced to leave him behind to keep its schedule. (TNG: "Ménage à Troi")

In status displays received by Enterprise-D around 2367, Bradbury was continuing her warp drive performance tests. (TNG: "Brothers")

Background

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, "the Bradbury was named for s-f/fantasy writer, Ray Bradbury, a friend of the late Gene Roddenberry. Based on the registry number, we suspect it is an experimental vessel, the first of its class."

The Bradbury was only initially mentioned in the dialog of "Ménage à Troi", but would later be referenced by name, class and registry number on the Starship mission status background artwork on the observation lounge set from TNG Season 4 onwards.
