The USS Al-Batani was a Federation starship that was in service with Starfleet in the mid-24th century. Captain Owen Paris commanded the Al-Batani in the 2360s. During this time, the Al-Batani was the first Starfleet assignment of Kathryn Janeway. (VOY: "Caretaker", "Shattered")

While under the command of Captain Paris, the Al-Batani participated in the Arias Expedition, with Janeway serving as the ship's science officer. (VOY: "Caretaker", "Live Fast and Prosper") One memorable incident aboard the Al-Batani was the time when Janeway accidentally disabled power to six decks after mis-aligning the ship's positronic relays. (VOY: "Shattered")

During one of the missions aboard the Al-Batani, the ship became trapped for three days by intense gravimetric forces inside a proto-nebula. (VOY: "Bride of Chaotica!")

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, this starship was an Template:ShipClass vessel; its registry number was stated to have been NCC-42995.
The Al-Batani appeared to have been named after the 9th and 10th-century Arab prince and astronomer of the same name.
