"There's a Hole in the Bucket" was a children's song from Earth, based on a dialogue about a leaky bucket between two characters, called Henry and Liza.

In 2374, after the sound of a sympathetic vibration in a power coupling drove Jack almost to distraction, he urged Chief O'Brien to correct it by quoting, "Well, why don't you fix it, dear fellow, dear fellow, well why don't you fix it before I go mad." (DS9: "Statistical Probabilities")
