In the aforementioned teleplay, Charles Evans psychokinetically forced Spock to recite the first two lines of this poem, while Evans was taking command of the USS Enterprise. The lines Spock stated were "Have you heard of the wonderful one-hoss shay, that was built in such a logical way."
