The Great Tribble Hunt was the derisive nickname that Odo gave to the organized extermination campaign against tribble species by the Klingon Empire in the late 23rd century, due to the Klingons deciding that tribbles were an ecological menace.
When told of the event by Worf while temporally displaced to Deep Space K-7 in 2268, Odo asked him dryly, "Do they still sing songs about The Great Tribble Hunt?"
Tribbles were later brought back from extinction when one was brought forward in time to 2373, the species's infamous ability to reproduce allowing it to quickly begin the work of replenishing their numbers. (DS9: "Trials and Tribble-ations")
