The Faerie Queene was an epic poem by Earth author Edmund Spenser written in the 16th century.

According to Michael Sullivan, it was the longest poem in the English language, and the first to use a nine line stanza. He gave a copy of the book as a present to Kathryn Janeway in 2376. (VOY: "Spirit Folk")

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 258), this poem "follows Arthurian knights allegorically exploring virtues against the backdrop of ancient England's Tudor dynasty."
