"The Andromeda Strain" is a movie released in 1971 on Earth. It is based on a novel by author Michael Crichton and tells a story about a group of scientists trying to find a cure for a lethal, quickly mutating virus. Most of the story takes place on a high-security underground research facility.

In 2254, Trip Tucker and Hoshi Sato were confined to Decon, infected with a silicon-based virus. The situation reminded Tucker of the movie: "The Andromeda Strain".
