Texas was a region on the North American continent of Earth and a part of the United States of America. It was one of the largest states of the United States of America and bordered the neighboring country of Mexico.

The city of Houston was located in Texas. For much of 20th and early 21st centuries, manned spaceflight, especially for the United States of America, was controlled from Houston.

Texas is the real-life birth place of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry as well as actors Brent Spiner and Michael Dorn.

A scene that was in the shooting script of the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Paradise Lost" mentioned a spaceport in the Texan city of Brackettville. Jake Sisko and Joseph Sisko were to take a transport from Brackettville to Mars.
