A tent was generally a type of portable and temporary shelter, often made of canvas or nylon. The material would be stretched over top a scaffold structure made of poles, often anchored with ropes and pegs.

In 2024, many people in the Sanctuary Districts lived in tents since there were not enough houses for them to be in. (DS9: "Past Tense, Part I", "Past Tense, Part II")
