Tiered Edit

Trying out a tiered system, which if it doesn't adversely effect anything means the featured content in the portals can finally be actual featured articles, and actually change. - Archduk3 16:38, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

Having the main page FAs tiered would have caused the odds to be too heavily favored articles in smaller groups. This wasn't a major problem during this test, but when all the FAs have blurbs it would start to be noticeable. That said, I kept the subject groupings for use in the portal overhaul proposal. - Archduk3 11:52, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

Random change Edit

I've been thinking of changing how the blurbs are randomized by switching to a dpl random selection from a category. Currently we use manually maintained choose/option lists. This would require a change in the templates and categories, mainly the creation of subcategories for each portal and merging Portal:Main/Panels/Featured Article into this template. I think this will be much easier to maintain as it won't require pages to be manually added or removed from the lists; instead pages will be added as soon as the blurbs are correctly categorized once they pass or are reconfirmed. - Archduk3 06:24, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
