A taxicab (also, taxi and/or cab) was a form of public transport vehicle in which patrons paid to be taken to requested destinations. An operator of a taxicab was called a taxi driver.
After following an image of Willie Hawkins through a door, Captain Benjamin Sisko found himself in the middle of a Prophet-induced vision of a busy New York street and was almost immediately hit by a taxi. (DS9: "Far Beyond the Stars")
When the HMS Bounty went back in time to 1986, James T. Kirk was nearly hit by a Cab Co. taxi in San Francisco. Another company operating in the city was DeSoto Cab. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
A taxi was also seen in the Orient Express holodeck program on the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG: "Emergence")
After Tom Paris "borrowed" a car from a dealership in 1996, Tuvok berated him for doing so, saying a taxi cab would have been a more ethical choice. (VOY: "Future's End")
