Tarquin's species were a humanoid spacefaring race from an unnamed planet in the Delphic Expanse.
Biology and culture[]
They had multiple antennae sprouting from their heads, and yellowish-brown skin. They were extremely long-lived; one member of their species claimed to be over four hundred years old. About one in every fifty million people of this race were born with telepathic abilities. Telepaths were seen as a threat to the rest of the population, and were therefore exiled off-world. History[]
When one member of this species, named Tarquin, was discovered to have telepathic abilities, he was exiled to his own planet to live out the rest of his days in isolation. Lonely, he had four companions in total by the time the last one died before the 2050s. In 2153, Tarquin detected Hoshi Sato aboard Enterprise as it traveled through the Delphic Expanse. He made full telepathic contact with her, inviting her to join him on his planet in exchange for giving the Enterprise crew information on the Xindi.
Sato stayed with Tarquin for several days while Enterprise investigated a Delphic Expanse sphere. During that time, she learned of his succession of companions and that he wanted her to become one. Sato refused, and foiled his attempts to telepathically trick her into staying. Once she saw through his ruse, he tried and failed to coerce her by threatening Enterprise, shutting down all power and systems on the vessel. (ENT: "Exile")
In 2154 a member of the species was captured as by the Orions and taken to their slave processing station on Verex III. (ENT: "Borderland")
