Tarok was a M-class moon in the Delta Quadrant, located in Kazon-Ogla territory and hosting a secret Kazon-Ogla training camp. The world featured warm environments with caves, and birds might be seen in its skies. Soil analysis indicated it was unsuited for an Intrepid-class ship to land on.

Despite weapons being hard to come by in the region, there were enough concealed weapon systems on the moon to destroy the entire surface, including phaser banks, force fields, and photon dischargers. These generated a large amount of radiothermic interference, making sensor scans of the surface impossible.

In 2372, Commander Chakotay and the Kazon boy Kar transported to Tarok after escaping from Kazon-Ogla First Maje Jal Razik. They were later rescued by landing parties from the USS Voyager and the Kazon-Ogla. (VOY: "Initiations")

According to the Star Trek: Star Charts, on page 84, Tarok's primary orbited a Class K star. Magnitude of this star was +5, which was the same brightness as Sol. The Voyager visited this moon on stardate 49005.
