A tardeth was a big hairy creature from Drayan II that was known to evoke fear in some Drayans.
When Tuvok was questioned in 2372 by Corin, an elderly Drayan, if Vulcans get ever get scared, even if they were being chased by a "big hairy tardeth", Tuvok stated that those circumstances were irrelevant, and that a Vulcan approached every situation logically. (VOY: "Innocence")
