A map of the Talosian star system
The Talos star group is an area of space containing Talos IV, inhabited by the Talosian species. Talos is located in the third quadrant of vernal galaxy, in the other end of the Milky Way Galaxy from Sol. (TOS: "The Cage", "The Menagerie, Part I")
- The USS Talos was most likely named for this star group.
- The vernal galaxy information comes from the "For eyes of Starfleet Command only" file read by Kirk in "The Menagerie, Part I". It is unknown what vernal galaxy is exactly, and how its quadrants are arranged. This reference system was never used again. Dialogue in "The Cage" clearly states Earth and Talos to be in the same galaxy.
