When I was describing the organization of Bajoran religion to a friend of mine who was watching DS9 for the first time, I found it helped to describe the Vedeks as similar to Bishops or Cardinals in the Catholic Church. Perhaps this parallel could be included? -<unsigned>

So long as that description is separated from the main text (indented & italicized), I don't see a problem with that. It should also be brief and to the point, like "One might describe the Vedeks as similar to Bishops or Cardinals in the Catholic Church." That would probably be alright. --From Andoria with Love 02:33, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Copied from "Reference Desk" Edit

I am the process of learning Hebrew. Found another Hebrew refernce is the Star Trek Legecay. Would like to add the following to Vedek Page if it will not cause too much angst.

The name "Vedek" might have been drawn from "Vetek," a Hebrew designation for Elder or old timer.

It seams to me, that the title is given not only to the High Holy officators of the religion, but also to young, lowly, and often sinfull simple monks. So the title may have similarity, or even have originated from the Hebrew, I dont see any meaning translate over in any significant sence. --Sdamon 14:22, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

First episode? Edit

What was the first episode to use the term "vedek"? --Defiant (talk) 07:58, July 31, 2016 (UTC)
