px size on list pagesEdit

Alan, can you point me to the style guide (or other document) that specifies the proper sizing for thumbnail images on list pages (and/or other types of page)? Thanks! --Renegade54 02:45, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm not Alan, but I've been told by 3 different people that 150px is the proper size on list pages for images. Just as an aside. -- Sulfur 02:49, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
OK. I guess it should be in some style guide, then, because Cid had asked us to remove all sizing on thumbnails so user's preferences would work properly. His posting was in Forum:Thumbnail size at the end of May. To my mind a published policy or style guide would be, in his words, a very good reason, but hearsay or suggestion wouldn't. -- Renegade54 03:00, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
This is what I told Sulfur back in June when he asked me about this:
"Lists, unlike everyday articles, of unnamed characters have always been at 150px ever since we created the first (to my knowledge) unnamed species list-page (unnamed Romulans-- prior to the page's later disambiguation) last year-- actually 180px was used on many pages and those too eventually creeped down to 150px as well. The reason for this, aesthetically speaking, was to condense the size of the page (or individual entry) so that the images don't overtake the text, as there are, in many cases, very little supplimental text for the unnamed characters. Typically large image and small text equals large gaps between entries, which simply "looks" bad." --Alan del Beccio 03:18, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
I agree, the 150px looks a lot better on the list pages, for exactly the reasons you stated. So, I'll stop making changes to that type of page. Thanks for the input! -- Renegade54 03:24, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
