Removed text Edit
Since space is completely noncorrosive to a ship's hull, the factors that limit a ship's useful life in Earth's saltwater oceans, which corrode metal via electrolysis, are completely eliminated.
I removed this text because while it is true as far as it goes, it gives a misleading impression because there are other factors that might weaken the ship's hull over time, including: micrometeor damage, thermal warping due to repeated heating/cooling, and radiation-induced metal fatigue.
The pertinent background section reads fine without the text, so I thought it best to remove itCapt Christopher Donovan 01:52, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
N. C. C. 1371 Edit
Why are these numbers switched? --220.127.116.11 01:53, April 13, 2010 (UTC)
Registry Number Edit
The page claims that the Republic's registry number is derived from a graphic used in "The Undiscovered Country," but the registry actually comes from the "Court Martial" episode itself. Kirk explicitly states the Republic's registry number in dialogue as 1371 while talking to Commodore Stone. I wanted to bring this matter to the attention of my fellow editors before going ahead and changing the page. Promus Kaa(Comm Chatter) 22:15, November 4, 2015 (UTC)
