- As it seems unlikely that an officer as important as Ross would use an Excelsior class ship, it is possible that the Excelsior class Farragut had been destroyed earlier in the year, and another ship commissioned with the name, possibly a Galaxy-class starship.
let's not be silly -- do we really know tha Excelsiors are unable to assume important support roles in the fleet? lets not make comments to that effect anymore, please. -- Captain M.K.B. 19:34, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
I recently made a modification of this article. I recently confirmed that the Excelsior-class ship was the Farragut, adn therefore got rid soem of the article. Sorry for any confusion. Ensign q 16:30, 1 March 2006 (UTC) Ensign Q
Making another change. Paragraph may be inaccurate about USS Farragut 2375. -- 220.127.116.11 13:03, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
why him ? Edit
Hi !I'm french and I read for MA-fr, so sorry ! I would like to know why this Excelsior is confirmed like a Farragut and while USS Farragut (23rd century)'s registry and class (NCC-1647 - Constitution class) are not confirmed ? Encyclopedia is used for one and not other, WHY ??? Thanks C-IMZADI-4 08:19, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- Because there is no evidence to support the type or registry of the 23rd century ship, it was just a past reference to a vessel, and the class and registry are complete fabricated by the Encyclopedia. On the other hand, the Encyclopedia is only used here to support the existing evidence by confirming what can already be established from the script/dialog. --Alan 17:45, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Ok ! I understand. an Excelsior class is seen so we can use encyclopedia for her name ! but for the Farragut 23rd century, it was the kirk's first post in 2250s, I believed possible Farragut was a Constitution class like Enterprise, because the both were in the seems decade !!!(?) For you, a constitution class has to get a registry with NCC-17.. ? so thank you to answered me on both Farragut. C-IMZADI-4 19:20, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
again me, I read your "background section" with change, my comprehension is better, now !!! thanksC-IMZADI-4 19:24, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well, we didn't exactly "use [the] encyclopedia for her name", but rather, used it to (basically) confirm that the one seen was the same vessel Nog mentioned to Bashir. --Alan 19:34, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Ok ! thank you ! Now my knowledge is perfect by the way Farragut(s)C-IMZADI-4 19:48, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
