Possibility of mergeEdit
- Oppose merge. This article is about a component of the transporter, not the transporter itself. Even leaving that aside, the transporter article is pretty long as it is right now, merging this would just bury this article in that one.--31dot 16:14, September 13, 2011 (UTC)
- I agree - a merge would mean burying this information in that article, so oppose to a simple merge. Something needs to be done, though: for example, there are at least six images of different transporter platforms on the transporter article, which should be here instead, perhaps except for a single, generic "platform-as-component" image. Even then, the split between the most-recognizable component of the transporter system (its platform) and, basically, everything else is a strange one - perhaps it would be a better idea to first split the current transporter article in several (if possible), and then merge this article there. -- Cid Highwind 16:38, September 13, 2011 (UTC)
- I'm open to that sort of thing- perhaps limiting the Transporter article to the mechanics of it and splitting off accidents and special operations into separate articles linked to from the main one(like I see done on Wikipedia). We can discuss the specifics of it over on that page.--31dot 17:51, September 13, 2011 (UTC)
As for this article, the way it's written seems overly confusing; it first says the transporter platform is the same as the transporter pad but then says that a platform can have multiple pads. Also, it doesn't seem clear, from this, how much of a transporter is the platform – just the floor/deck area, or the back walls, etc. too(?) --Defiant 18:19, September 13, 2011 (UTC)
