1st century Edit
The script of "Awakening" refers to the flashback scene in that episode as occurring "2000 years" prior to the setting of the episode. Since the episode is set in 2154, that would give a year of 154, in the 1st century. Other historical information, which I've found on MA, dates the Time of Awakening as being in the 4th century. So, is it really possible the Vulcan war lasted from the 1st to the 4th century?! --Defiant (talk) 09:17, May 18, 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for info; I missed that reference. Anyway, I'm still interested in whether a nuclear war could be fought over 200 years and whether there's any precedent for that in other fiction. --Defiant (talk) 15:21, May 18, 2016 (UTC)
- With the longer Vulcan lifespans 200 years is not that awkard as it would be for Humans I guess, there would still be people alive at its end who remembered the first years of the war. Plus, the use of nuclear weapons after a long conventional war could be what ultimately drove enough Vulcans to follow Surak realizing their species was now facing extinction. Just read about the environmental effects of nuclear war. Seems to me like the result is basically a nuclear winter, yet what we see on Vulcan's surface (even in the flashback scenes) is sort of the opposite, with desert climate and very hot temperatures. I don't follow. --Defiant (talk) 15:38, May 18, 2016 (UTC)
