== Isn't that why this is called a "Discussion" page ==

So people can discuss it? I hardly see much here that qualifies as official content or background information. Just thoughts about how it effected people.-- --[[User:Jason3fc|Jason3fc]] 05:06, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Likely one of the better story-arc planned and more beautiful episodes. IIRC, a previous episode featured Picard lamenting that, for all his accomplishments, he never learned to play a musical instrument. (and his true love, exploration, furnishes him with just such a skill, embued with sentiment.) In a later episode, he plays his flute with a keyboardist love interest. That flute rocks; it's befitting of Picard's character. --zuzu

Also, a parallelism of anamnesis exists with this episode and Philip K. Dick's gnostic work VALIS. (deep down, Star Trek is just a pulp fiction space opera; akin to comic books and dime novels.) --zuzu

Definitely one of my favorites in terms of story line and pure content. This could work as a stand alone story aside from Star Trek, but I feel it has an even greater impact due to the the interest we have invested in Picard's life up to this point. As the other poster said, the flute was very fitting of Picard. This story almost makes you realize that Picard's desire if he were not a starship captain, would be a life like Kamin. To have a family, and have kids, friends, and a simple life in which he could also make a profound impact. How interesting would it have been to break this off into a pilot of an enitre series, or a whole other group of novels about Kamin's life during this whole time.-- jason3fc

Talk page or blog?

Actually, it's called a "Talk" page. As our general policies for talk pages states:
"Remember that above all else, Memory Alpha is an encyclopedia. It is a community that is solely devoted to the development of the Star Trek reference database; it is not a chat room or discussion forum. The talk pages are specifically for discussing the writing of articles, and nothing else."
