What is the basis for identifying this ship as a "T'Pau type" ship? I don't believe it was called such on screen (or else one would think the Okudas would have noted it in the Encyc). Thanks. --220.127.116.11 01:32, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- We don't know the name of the class, so we use this name we devised to describe it. That's why it's not called the "T'Pau class" -- we have no idea of the actual class name so we just call ships that look like this by the name of the one we knew the name of to make them easier to take note of. It's not an official designation. -- Captain MKB 01:44, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Apollo class Edit
The designation Apollo-class is speculative (and an apparent error of the Encyclopedia). The name and registry were given on a display screen, but the ship was never referred to as an Apollo-class vessel anywhere except the Encyclopedia shiplist (M-Z, p.334 and previous versions), but we know that there are several mistakes on that list that have never been corrected in subsequent editions. The actual entry for the T'Pau omits the class reference, too.
The addition of the MAHL'KOM group could even be a reference to the class of the ship, not an organization that owned the ship (that would be the Vulcan National Merchant Fleet, anyway). According to the corresponding Encyclopedia entry, it was a deliberate reference to ENT "Shuttlepod One", as the term means 'serenity'. Could it be an in-joke referring to the freighter Serenity from Firefly?
