Merge Edit

Subspace relay and Subspace relay station seems to be about the same subject, or at the very least there is significant overlap. - Archduk3 16:52, December 9, 2016 (UTC)

Support a merge. Tom (talk) 17:00, December 9, 2016 (UTC)
Support, but I wish references to "relay station" and "Communication relay station" weren't tangled up in this, they typically weren't said to be (exclusively) concerned with subspace communications. -- Capricorn (talk) 08:56, December 10, 2016 (UTC)
I've been working on splicing things out as I mentioned above (turns out to be a good idea, btw), and noticed something: "Ensign Ro" talks about a subspace relay as a starship component, and "In the Hands of the Prophets" talks about a subspace relay as a presumably small "subspace device" that could be covertly placed somewhere. I think the conclusion must be that a subspace relay is a device, while a subspace relay station is an stationary outpost accommodating a large such a device. So, changing my vote to Oppose. The articles should be rewritten to make this clear though. -- Capricorn (talk) 21:39, December 11, 2016 (UTC)

If there is suppose to be a difference in-universe, then it certainly isn't reflected well, or even at all, in these articles. - Archduk3 16:33, December 24, 2016 (UTC)

I've made more improvements, mostly in the introductory paragraphs of these two pages, that define the scope of what exactly these two things entail, and now they relate to other similarly named things. I hope that clears it up enough, but in any case I've removed the merge notice. -- Capricorn (talk) 13:29, March 16, 2017 (UTC)

The scope of these are indeed much improved. - Archduk3 20:54, March 16, 2017 (UTC)
