Page should be renamed to "Star Trek starship miniatures"Edit
Well, it probably should have been discussed with the community before breaking this section out of the "Star Trek model kits" article, but it makes sense to me.
BUT the "Companies" list does NOT cover miniature figures or other decoratives except where there's an overlap with starship replicas. I know this 'cuz I compiled much of the list. So anyway, this article should be renamed to "Star Trek starship miniatures", as it's much more apt. The lost embedded links should be restored as they redirected to the right MA pages, IIRC. Also, the "Ranges and collections" section needs a major expansion, if you wanna go that route. It's a good idea and I'll be happy to contribute. Darth Duranium 07:07, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
- Comment--I dunno, I'm a bit undecided on this one. I think the breaking-out was a good idea, so no problems there, but I also think keeping it titled as is, is also fine, as you said it yourself, there is overlap with figurines. I agree that the vast majority of items carried are starships, but Citadel, Ertl, Fasa, Furuta (granted, only one, but still part of a collection), Hallmark, Playmates, Racing Champions, and Rawcliffe (which I therefore think as just shy more than an incident) all carry figurines in their collections, so calling this page "Star Trek starship miniatures" might be a bit misleading in my honest opinion--Sennim 08:44, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
I certainly agree that the breakout is a good idea. But I'm thinking that by the time that the "Ranges and Collections" section gets filled in with starship lines, this page is gonna be quite long as it is. There are dozens and dozens of figure makers out there, figures are a gargantuan deal. Figures could definitely have their own page, if someone wanted to start on an epic task of compiling one. And that doesn't include all of the minis like comm badges, logos, decoratives, etc. I think that this page, if restored as suggested, would be a valuable resource for Trek starship collectors without muddying the water, so to speak. - I see where you're going with this, so on that note I cast a Agreed-vote. Just on a side note though, do not modelkit companies also apply, they are miniatures after all, (when assembled)..:)--Sennim 12:34, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
Cheers for the vote, Sennim. Hehe, this whole article was carved out of the ST model kits article and I'd agree that kits are "miniatures when assembled" ...that's why I initially put the minis there. But I think we'll be pretty good with crosslinks to the model kits page, as it now stands. Both pages are (or will be) quite long. Darth Duranium 01:05, June 19, 2012 (UTC)
