St. John Talbot was one of the few people we ever saw smoking in any Trek. (Kirk smoked Martia's stogie in Star Trek VI.) Personally, I would hope that by the 23rd century, we would have enough common sense not to use tobacco. - Adambomb1701 15:33, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Point well taken. By the way, Gene Roddenberry himself, in the introduction to the 1986 video release of "The Cage," stated that he wanted no one on the Enterprise to smoke. This was in spite of the fact that tobacco advertising was a main source of income for the three networks at that time. - Adambomb1701 17:58, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
The Supreme Being Teaches Talbot How to Be in Love??? Edit
- While the mission ultimately proved a failure, Talbot became romantically involved with his fellow dignitary, Caithlin Dar, during the voyage.
Admittedly, it's been a while since I've seen the movie, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, but I do not recall any mention of Talbot and Dar getting together, nor is there any mention of it in Dar's article. Does anyone know off-hand whether or not this is correct? If not, off it should go, and quickly (unless it comes from the script or novelization or something...) --From Andoria with Love 04:00, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- I think it had to do with the last scene they appeared in, where they were drinking and seeming to be getting 'a little friendly', and Koord wonders what they are "conspiring about." The online script isn't quite up to par with the actual dialog, so I can't give you the direct quote. Then again, it could have just been the alcohol talking... --Alan 04:10, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Ahh, I see. In that case, I think it would be best to move the note to the background and just state that they appeared to be in some kind of relationship... or something to that effect. --From Andoria with Love 04:14, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
