Space sickness is referred to as "space adaptation syndrome" as a medical condition in present-day Earth, and is believed to affect approximately half of all space-farers in microgravity. It usually lasts no longer than a few days as the body's vestibular system adapts to the microgravity environment. It is currently unknown how artificially-generated gravity would affect space sickness.
There is neither proof nor basis to assume that space sickness as described in star trek and space adaptation syndrome are the same. The note itself admits that space adaptation syndrome is caused by exposure to micro-gravity, while space sickness occurs despite the presence of artificial Earth-like gravity. -- Capricorn 17:39, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
