There is a lot more information about portable scanners. -- Q 10:29, 20 Mar 2005 (EST)

Broadening the horizonsEdit

Scanners were also starship components, and not just hand held devices, as this article suggests. I think it has been a general assumption that the term "scanners" is interchangeable with sensors, but I've found sufficient evidence that suggests that they are not interchangeable. What this article is about it accurate, yes, but was referred to on at least 4 separate occasions under a different, more specific title (a hand scanner), and should probably be moved accordingly to accommodate the greater whole. I've only tinkered with investigating scanner references, and there are more than a couple hundred. --Alan 22:42, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

In "In the Hands of the Prophets", Neela told O'Brien that the scanners are ready to search for tritanium sources aboard the station. Maybe we should expand this article from the hand-held devices to include the space station/ starship versions? – Tom 11:20, September 16, 2009 (UTC)
The shipboard scanners are covered under the article sensors. If anything, we should probably just put a note ("see sensors") on this page, to avoid duplication. -Mdettweiler 13:22, September 16, 2009 (UTC)
