Sodium chloride (Vfd log) Edit

Sodium chloride
I don't think we need this on memory alpha. Salt works exactly the same on Star Trek as it does in real life. The only thing of mention is the existance of the M-113 monster. The monster is special. Salt should just be redirected to wikipedia. Federation 03:01, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Yes, but it is a good place to put specific references to salt in the Trek Universe that can't be found on wikipedia. --Gvsualan 03:48, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Wasn't it used in Arena in Kirks Primitive cannon? --TOSrules 04:29, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
That was saltpeter, otherwise known as potassium nitrate which is totally different. --Gvsualan 04:39, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
We also have Sodium. Perhaps a merge? Tyrant 23:27, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)Tyrant
No, that wouldn't work either. Sodium is an element, salt is a compound -- which in essence means that sodium is only half (more or less) of what makes up salt. Besides, there are plenty of other near-irrelevant pages contained within M/A for us to focus on than this one, which actually played a significant role in at least one TOS episode, as well as a miscellaneous reference in "Dax". The fact that it is also used as a seasoning adds a couple more references just from DS9 alone. As well, it could also be linked to suck salt, ice salt and firesalt. Above all, there are plenty of reasons to keep it as its own article. --Gvsualan 23:50, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Keep -- Unsigned
Keep -- move to salt and disambiguate -- besides the relevance of the salt vampire, we have the aforementioned other salt mantions and variations of the substance. -- Captain Mike K. Barteltalk 17:28, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Sodium ChlorideEdit

Since sodium chloride is simply the chemical term for salt, I think it should simply be merged with that article. --From Andoria with Love 09:16, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes. It seems as if there already had been a deletion discussion for "Sodium chloride" that, for whatever reasons, was placed on Talk:Salt later. A merge had already been suggested there. NOTE: I see that this deletion discussion is from 2005. Apparently, the article was merged, then the redirect deleted, then the article recreated later. Please, keep the redirect this time to avoid this happening again. -- Cid Highwind 09:32, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
