Unlikely that "Princessium" was named after Diana. She died 5 years after the airing of the episode, and frankly would be a bizarre assumption to think it had anything to do with her.

It could just as easily be Princess Grace, or any of the other princess'. I submit that this is apocrypha, and doesn't belong as being presented as fact.

No explanation given would be preferable to an assumption presented as fact. --Hossrex 01:14, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

This needs to be confirmed with a source, so I am going to add an {{incite}}, but the language of the note makes me think that we have some background source, like the Companion, that says it is named for Princess Diana. --OuroborosCobra talk 01:17, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Of course, there is the symbol of the element. "Di". That is somewhat suggestive. Just as an aside. -- Sulfur 01:49, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Suggest, yes, but the note in its current form says that it is. If we are going to sound that authoritative, we should have a production source or something to back up that claim. Otherwise it should be re-worded to be speculation. --OuroborosCobra talk 02:02, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
I've reworded the statement to be less authoritative. If there's an official source stating it was definitely named for Diana, it can be changed back. --From Andoria with Love 02:07, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
It looks like I was the one who removed the original "apparently" from the bg description, making it seem authoritive. That was over a year ago (Oct '05), so I'll chalk it up to the "follies of youth." As far as I know, there's no authoritative source for the naming of the fake elements, and they're all guesses.--Tim Thomason 02:14, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Ummmmmm... I'm the one who started this, and I have to admit I didn't realize the chemical symbol for the ficticious element was "Di".  :P I have to admit, thats about as concrete as anything. Maybe a notation of that, and an apology from me for not noticing the obvious, and this will all be okay.  :)

Removed Edit

Removed this pure speculation:

  • The element Princessium may have been named after the late Princess Diana, as suggested by the element's symbol, "Di".
