The Victoria University of Wellington, in New Zealand, does in reality have its own well-known creative writing program. Wellington-based New Zealand fan writer, fanzine editor and convention organizer, Lana Pennington-Brown, who was befriended by several of the production staff of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, inspired the name of the fictitious educational institution. {{incite}}
