The Star Trek 30th Anniversary Book mentions that she is an Ensign, rather than a LJG. If I'm correct, an Ensign is one below a Lieutenant Junior Grade.

  • Look at her picture in that book on page 131, there she is clearly a Lt. jg. --Gvsualan 14:07, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Article titleEdit

On a somewhat related note, is this the correct way to name the article, or should it be "Palmer (Lieutenant junior grade"? I ask this only because the Lieutenant Junior Grade redirects right to Lieutenant junior grade. --Gvsualan 14:14, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I discussed this with a few other archivists a year or two ago -- the rank used in a disambiguation is part of that person's title -- and is the reason why the redirect exists -- it is Palmer (Lieutenant JG) because "She is Lieutenant Junior Grade Palmer." -- capitalized because it is her title. The rank is lower case however, when being referred to as an improper noun ("Palmer was a lieutenant junior grade.") -- this is why the article exists at that location. Captain Mike K. In this case however -- i think a better location anyway would be Palmer (Lieutenant JG) -- just for brevity sake. -- Captain Mike K. Barteltalk 16:16, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)
