- He's not the real Miles, and therefore not actually a Starfleet member. -- sulfur 13:53, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not convinced that Sim should have that category either to be honest. :) -- sulfur 15:17, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
I wasn't part of that choice, but it seems to play into the theme that clones of members of Starfleet can still be members unless they no longer want to be. Riker's transporter clone was a member of Starfleet after being rescued, Sim was given a Starfleet funeral, and this O'Brien thought he was the real one, and acted as such, to the point that he was O'Brien, since he was never triggered, if I remember correctly. At the very least he should be in Category:Deep Space 9 personnel. - Archduk3:talk 16:09, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree. The other cases are examples of Starfleet letting them be members, or given them essentially an honorary membership (posthumously, in the case of Sim). O'Brien's replicant did not seem to receive that treatment. The choice of who is and is not in Starfleet is Starfleet's choice first, the clone's second. --OuroborosCobra talk 16:11, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
I agree, I'm just saying that the only difference between this case and Riker's is that this O'Brien was created for a purpose, not on accident, and could be "triggered" just like Geordi La Forge in "The Mind's Eye". Sisko's statements at the end of the episode to me reflect that he thought this O'Brien was acting as the real O'Brien would, or a member of Starfleet. - Archduk3:talk 16:40, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
- I oppose listing the replicant as Starfleet personnel- if anything he was Impersonating a Starfleet officer and just didn't know it. As said above, Starfleet decides who is in Starfleet. How the replicant was acting or how he thought he was acting is not relevant.--31dot 18:41, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
