Is it really necessary to have these articles for things on which there is virtually no information but one single passing reference? Why have articles for them anyway?

Yes. Don't leave messages on everyone's talk pages telling them to answer either. -- Sulfur 00:54, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

You have not answered my second question: why?

About contacting others: Oh, will you relax? I only asked you.– Watching... listening... 01:04, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Because we're trying to be an encyclopedia and cover everything. Secondly, in terms of contacting people... people will see this talk page and respond. You need not bring it to peoples' attention. The same holds for other times you've pointed people to a talk page conversation. -- Sulfur 01:10, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
It is absolutely necessary to have pages like this one to be complete. People don't have to read those articles and can stick to Spock, Klingon, Starfleet or USS Defiant, no matter how insignificant an article is compared to the "major" articles. They don't hurt anybody, they don't waste space, they are just here to complete the picture. --Jörg 16:27, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
