Homage to Odan? Edit

Could the similarity between both Mareel's name and her make-up be a reference to Kareel Odan from TNG? If so, should this be mentionoed in the article? -- Bakabaka 11:46, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

The make-up indeed seems too close to be a coincidence. We should find out if there is some production source to confirm the connection, and if so mention it in background. However, if no such reference can be found, I'm against mentioning it, as there is no rational way whatsoever to connect Mareel and Odan, apart from the similar make-up and the fact that a trill was stationed on her planet. They are different enough if you really look at it close. Notably how the hair protrudes from the ridge on Mareel, but is completely separate on Kareel. --Alan 21:43, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Besides, Mareel's make-up is a re-use of the Tyran make-up (Dr. Farallon, for example) from "The Quality of Life". --Jörg 21:53, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks all for looking this up! Althoug I'm personally still charmed by the name reference, the make-up clearly has another source. -- Bakabaka 09:02, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Name reference Edit

Regarding the aforementioned name reference, removed from the background " The name Khefka IV, for Mareel's home planet, is a deliberate pun (Khefka/Kafka)." Could this be more clearly explained or at least cited, seeing that this article is about Mareel not Khefka. Thank you. --Alan del Beccio 20:37, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

One-woman army? Edit

How did this random woman so expertly kick Kira's ass, a lifelong terrorist who beats up klingons when she has to? You'd think Mareel would be able to make a living through MMA tournaments rather than prostitution. 17:48, March 13, 2015 (UTC)
