Do we need this article?Edit

Just a thought: Do we need this article? I'm a bit amiguous. On one side there are a few good notes concerning Star Trek, on the other hand there is also a lot of information we frankly just don't need. -- Redge 00:18, 14 May 2004 (CEST)

If the Encyclopedia has an article about the Macintosh, then dagnabbit, Memory Alpha's going to have an article about the Macintosh! :-P Seriously, why not? It's not like the article is an in-depth study of everything that has to do with Macs... -- Dan Carlson 02:20, 14 May 2004 (CEST)
I guess you right. -- Redge | Talk 18:23, 14 Aug 2004 (CEST)

Display computersEdit

If macs were used for the displays on Enterprise, does anyone known what was used for the displays on the other 4 series? -- Redge | Talk 18:23, 14 Aug 2004 (CEST)

|| In the 25th Anniversary special Mike Okuda is shown using a Macintosh to create the moving LCARs displays on Star Trek:TNG. (See [1]). Since he created the gels for the static displays on that series, as well as the animated and static displays on DS9, Voyager, (Enterprise?) as well as the movies (at least Star Trek V onwards) it seems highly likely a Mac was used to generate these too. I don't know of any citable evidence for these other series though. 20:59, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Fix for DatesEdit

Given that in the Trek universe we have never seen a Mac used in the 21st Century, I propose we modify the text to read that it was in use during "at least" the 20th Century and be silent as to any other. Aholland 21:45, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Need CitationEdit

I removed:

Originally, an Amiga computer was to be used for the above scene, but Amiga wanted the producers to pay for the computer. Apple, on the other hand, let the producers use the Mac for free. {{incite}}

I'm sure it's probably legit, but there needs to be some citation to support it. --Alan 23:55, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Qwerty Query Edit

I doubt that the use of the QWERTY keyboard was used in Scotty's day. How did he know how to type so well instead of hunting and pecking?

Not Really a Macintosh Edit

Should the article include any mention of the fact that only the outer case is a Macintosh? As can be seen from the screen in MacintoshPlus.jpg, the actual software seems to be PC or Amiga, with an Apple logo added in the upper left corner of the screen!
