Does La Barre actually exist? Because I seem remember it was just made up by the producers. I can find some references to a Chateau-de-la-Barre, but is there a French village called La Barre? -- Harry 15:46, 10 Dec 2004 (CET)

Two French villages are called La Barre, one in the Jura departement, and one in the Haute-Saône. However, both villages are situated in the centre-northern part of France, not the south... --Admiral Martin I 13:19, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)

There are several La Barre in France. I think the best candidate for Picard's birthplace is the one in Buyrgundy as this is a wine-producing area, which Haute Saône is not.--Vincent.becker 11:04, January 21, 2010 (UTC)
