Vulcan vegetarianism Edit

Isn't such a food item a contradiction of the fact that Vulcans are vegetarians? The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

Not necessarily. Just because the mollusks originate on Vulcan doesn't mean that Vulcans eat them. ;) --From Andoria with Love 17:16, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
The V'tosh ka'tur ate meat. So the recipe could have been created by Vulcans. It just wouldn't be very widely consumed by them. The background info box should probably note this possibility. -Starstuff (talk) 03:04, February 19, 2010 (UTC)
Out of random curiosity, do we have any references to Vulcan vegetarianism after the complete restructuring of Vulcan philosophy following the re-introduction of the Kir'Shara? I somehow find it unlikely that Quark of all people and Ferengi would fail to know that detail about a potential business partner, particularly when he was trying to pander to her with his selection of food. --OuroborosCobra talk 16:23, February 19, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, regarding Spock in "All Our Yesterdays" (per vegetarian) and "The Slaver Weapon" (per herbivore). --Alan 16:30, February 19, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Alan. Oh well, this will just have to seem as a weird contradiction, or Quark thinking with his *ahem* "ears/lobes," instead of his brain. -OuroborosCobra talk 16:40, February 19, 2010 (UTC)
or the Dish might date to Pre-Surak times, when Vulcan vegetarianism wasn't as wide spread. Mithril (talk) 08:50, October 3, 2012 (UTC)
Quark is smart enough to realize he lives and is serving a potential client in the 24th century, not the 4th century. --OuroborosCobra talk 14:08, October 3, 2012 (UTC)
true, but the vulcans might still raise the mollusks for export, and Quark was just being honest about where they came from. 12:10, October 6, 2012 (UTC)

In relation to all of the above, I went ahead and just removed the following, as being speculation, or original research, or just not up to standard, whatever you want to call it. -- Capricorn (talk) 23:13, December 17, 2017 (UTC)

Due to the fact that Vulcans were strictly vegetarian, the recipe was likely created by another species.
